Northern California 1 – Yosemite

I’ve been meaning to post my November California trip pics, but just haven’t gotten to it!

Here they are!

Lake Mono, from the airplane.

I think this is Lake Powell:

The first National Park we saw was Yosemite. Yosemite is kind of special because it’s a Valley carved by a glacier. Unfortunately, our day there was very cloud and hazy, and we never got a view of Half Dome. I’m sure the park is more impressive on a clear day! But it was still pretty cool!

The hike to the Merced Grove of Sequoias. We never got to where the Sequoias actually were – it was a much longer hike than we thought it would be, and we only had one day at the Park. Plus it was all downhill going towards the grove – and all up-hill, at high altitude, going back! I think we were close, but we had no way of knowing. No fear, though, we saw plenty of giant trees later.

Bridal Veil Falls – it’s weak, but at least there’s water!

Look! It’s Half-Dome! Behind that giant cloud! The sign helpfully illustrates what we would be seeing if it were clear. This is at Glacier Point.

The view to the Valley Floor which also would be more impressive if you could see it well.
