iphone pics

Here are a whole bunch of iphone pics from the last few days. And since I’m on a real computer, it’ll be easier to type. I’m still working on the regular camera pics

Here’s a lucky shot of a bird on the beach from Sunday! I even managed to get myself in the shot!

This sunset was really cool, though these shots kind of suck. We were sitting at a traffic light on the way to dinner and the sun was half in the water and huge – beautiful! We ate at Italian Courtyard – really good Italian place.

This is the pier we got to stand on to watch the launch! Way out in the front of it. The shuttle is right in front of it, and the VAB is the square thing in the distance to the right.

There was even a guy with an inflatable shuttle tied to his head! I got a pic with my other camera!

Then came time to go see the launch! We were given VIP passes to go out on the pier!

The VAB and shuttle are right in front of us here. They look smaller on the iphone pic. Note the clouds moving in.

Manatees!

The manatees were a fun distraction, but fortunately we remembered there was a shuttle launch in time! There was a loudspeaker at the park, which had a live feed. But we couldn’t hear it where we were. I expected the crowd behind us to count down, but they didn’t. We knew we were close, and then suddenly, someone shouted “it’s starting” and we saw a huge cloud billow out and then a super bright light took off! Everyone cheered and then the shuttle went behind a cloud. But then it came out again and everyone cheered again. We got a few more seconds before it went behind some high cirrus clouds. So that’s all we got. But it was really cool and we couldn’t have seen it in better circumstances. We were able to wait in the shade and then watch it in the VIP area with an unobstructed view! Plus, manatees!!

After the launch, we headed over to New Smyrna Beach (where Doug’s family goes every year) to have dinner at Fish Camp, one of our favorite places on the intercoastal waterway there.

The white condo on the left is where we always stay.

We got lucky and saw a river dolphin fishing at Fish Camp! I got some great regular camera shots.

After dinner, and after checking out Bethune Beach Park, we walked across the street to take a walk on the beach!
