Spain trip report: Barcelona, Day 3, Lunch and wandering around

After Doug and I saw La Pedrera, he had to head off to his meeting at the University.

I knew where I’d be heading for lunch – that cafe I liked so much, Taller de Tapas. The food was so good, I couldn’t help myself!

I was able to get a table without too much problem, which was good because things rapidly filled up.

I ordered a clara (that half beer, half lemon soda Spanish drink which is awesome), and then the card I had from our hotel got me a free champagne. Which is way more alcohol than I’m used to consuming. :-)

Anyway, the cafe is totally full and this nice couple (maybe in their 50s) asks me if I’m alone, so I share the table with them. And since I’d eaten here before, I recommend a few things.

Then my food came. Can you tell I like their shrimp? And that’s bread with olive oil and tomato on it, which is really big in Spain apparently. I got the shrimp with garlic again, and also the shrimp on bread with garlic mayo. SO good.

I chatted with the couple and they were speaking French, and it turns out they’re from the French part of Switzerland. They were on vacation and it was their last day. Anyway, they were very pleasant, so sharing the table worked out well.

After I was done eating, I said goodbye and headed off for the afternoon. After seeing it on postcards I got at La Pedrera, I decided to see another Gaudi house, Casa Battlo (bai-o). I was glad I did. It was gorgeous!

A few random pics from my walk to the subway.

There’s a street between those two buildings, believe it or not! I think I took this pic so I could find that street again, because there was a cute little shop I wanted to go back to.

The umbrella building again!

I wanted this calendar, but they didn’t have any more and this was display only. Sad. I was able to ask about it in Spanish though, which was cool.
