Disney Marathon Weekend, part 1

In January, Doug and I took a long weekend at Disney to cheer for Meredith and Amber who were running in the Marathon weekend races.

It has been a cold winter here so it was nice to get out of it for a little while.

It was overcast when we got there, but the rest of the weekend was gorgeous.

We stayed at the Polynesian again since we got a good rate because of the races and shared a room with Meredith. The bad thing was that they decided this year to blast super loud music at the Ticket and Transportation Center (TTT) at 3am, which was stupid because all the runners were going to the start line at Epcot and spectators weren’t going to be out that early. It woke us up in the middle of the night and Doug was so mad (and he doesn’t get mad), that he went all the way out to the reception desk at the Great Ceremonial House to complain. We ended up getting our room switched to somewhere less close to the TTT end of the Poly. They played loud music again a 2nd night in a row, but it was somewhat muted. I really don’t know what Run Disney was thinking.

Next we headed to Hollywood Studios since we missed going there last time:

I tried the Rock n Roller coaster again and liked it better from towards the front. I think the last time we were towards the back and it was just a little rough for me.

We were under the clock on It’s A Small World when it chimed, which was fun. It was clearly 6:30.

We found the bride’s ring in the pavement near the Haunted Mansion:

Then, since we’d never done it before, we did the pirate treasure scavenger hunt thing in Adventureland. We didn’t realize that you needed to do the whole thing to get the “reward,” and we didn’t have time to finish, so we redid some of it our last morning:
