Greensboro Adventure, part 2 – Paul McCartney

So when I last posted, we were going to try to surprise Janine with Katie’s appearance at the Paul McCartney concert. Despite the fact that there were multiple pay lots near the Colliseum, somehow we ended up in the same lot. We hid Katie behind everyone else, and Janine walked towards us apparently thinking “why are they all just standing … Continue Reading →

Greensboro Adventure, part 1

So Paul McCartney added a concert to his tour in Greensboro, NC and Janine and I decided to get tickets. Doug was kind of apathetic about the concert, so right away, Katie and I started scheming to try to work it out so that Katie could come in his place – and we would surprise Janine. Because of the complication … Continue Reading →

First Aid Kit

We were lucky enough to get a second chance to see First Aid Kit recently in DC. They played at Lisner Auditorium at GW University in DC. I was able to snag 4th row seats so we had a pretty good view, though not as close as we were for the 9:30 Club. A lot less standing, which was good … Continue Reading →

Sunset Eclipse

So a couple of weeks ago, there was a partial solar eclipse that was due to be a sunset eclipse in our area. If you recall, a couple of years ago, some friends and I went out to Arizona to watch a sunset annular eclipse. This one we were able to watch from the roof of Building 34 at work. … Continue Reading →

Pumpkin Patch

Here’s some photos from our annual trip the pumpkin patch. Some nice butterflies this time! Love these blue pumpkins! Squashes! Pumpkin pie recipe!

Ida McKinley dress

They had a new dress up at the Magic Kingdom Hall of Presidents (new to me anyway) – Ida McKinley’s gorgeous black lace pigeon-front dress.

Corn Maze

The second annual running of the corn maze! It was super fun except for the part where I got stung on the lip by a yellow jacket that landed on my hot cider without me realizing it. This year’s theme was the War of 1812. Alex and Holly doing American Gothic Crazy newlyweds! Group shot! You can see my lip … Continue Reading →

Disney Food & Wine (Sunday)

We were up late again at the fireworks, so we were slow again in the morning. We hit Epcot for an early lunch! No, this wasn’t lunch. I saw him on line for food though! More grapefruit beer! Australia: Garlic Shrimp with Roasted Tomatoes, Lemon Myrtle and Rapini (good!); Grilled Lamp Chop with Mint Pesto and Potato Crunchies (good!); Pavlova … Continue Reading →

Disney Food & Wine (Saturday)

We were up late at the Mickey Halloween party (we closed it down pretty much) so we took a it a bit slow Saturday morning. We had an early lunch at Epcot. We started with Italy: Ravioli alla caprese: cheese ravioli, tomato sauce, mozzarella, parmesan and basil (good!) ; Filetto di pollo, con funghi al marsala: chicken tenderloin, cremini mushrooms, … Continue Reading →

Disney Food & Wine! (Friday night)

Friday night we headed to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party! I love seeing the Magic Kingdom all lit up for Halloween! No Headless Horseman in the parade, sadly, because of the weather. But I love the zombie dancers! And the gravediggers: The figurehead on Hook’s ship is pretty! Haunted Mansion!

Disney Food & Wine! (Friday)

Friday ended up being a hugely long day! We went to three parks and walked over a half marathon of miles. We started out in the morning at Hollywood Studios, which, still in the grip of Frozen-mania, gave out these cute Olaf fans. Which remind me of the Facebook stickers since Katie and I use the Olaf ones a lot. … Continue Reading →

Disney Food & Wine! (Thursday night)

Look at me, I’m posting! Woo! So Doug and I took a quick weekend at Disney before our annual passes ran out to eat ALL the things at Food & Wine and go to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party. We stayed at a cheap hotel instead of a Disney resort and focused our cash on FOOD. When we got … Continue Reading →
