What I’ve Been Up To – February, part 1

It’s been busy, as always. We’re in the process of repainting our family room (which badly, badly needs it since the paint over the paneling from the prior owners was peeling) and which has required not only painting but scraping. Ugh. And I’m also trying to sew a new saque for the francaise dinner, helping to plan the francaise dinner (which I’m super excited for but thank God for Gloria and Stephanie who are awesome), ebaying and sorting through things, and just keep up in general. For the most part though, things have slowed down, which is so nice. Some of the big stressors have gone away, like Athena’s Daughters 2 which is much quieter now. The only really bad thing was spending most of February sick. I had a weird and horrible sore throat and cough for a week, got well, and then everyone at our superbowl party caught the flu or some bug or another. So Doug and I were both sick for another week. Yuck.

How about some pics?

Prepare for a lot of cat pictures.

When Willow is happy, sometimes she drools. Which is kind of gross, but also a little amusing. You can see the drool forming here:

So fuzzy.

She looks thrilled with having her picture taken:

Betsy posted this and it really cracked me up:

Joe was out sick and when he came back in, Alex and Dave had done this to his desk. Ironically this was on the day I came back from being sick.

The Godzilla’s stopped fighting long enough to have a meal together:

Pretty winter sky plus the moon:

I’ve also been trying to digitize old film photos. I found this one. I believe this is from my first time at Disney, when I was in college (maybe a senior?) and Doug and I went.

Doug decided to make chicken stock – and then made this chicken soup, which was all from scratch except for the noodles which we had. It was SO good. Normally I would eat around the vegetables but he’d cooked them separate and then put them in so they weren’t mushy. The best soup!

Don’s birthday – how to put out birthday candles when everyone’s been sick and not wanting germs blown onto the cupcakes:

We made sure the Godzilla’s had cupcakes to eat too:

I left my old stays out and this happened:

The kind of crappy salting we see in the south. Also the person is Dave and he’s carrying his lunch, not salting the walk.

Snow!

My felted Norwegian mittens have been awesome this winter!

Kristin at work made a carrot cake and brought it in for us. Fortunately for us, since it snowed and we didn’t think we’d get any. I pretty much never choose to eat carrot cake, but this was SO SO good.

More snow – Willow always wants out so we thought we’d see how she liked snow. She actually really liked it. I mean, clearly she was made for it, looking like a mini polar bear and all:

I put her in my jacket to keep her warm and we went out back to see what Doug was up to. I think he was shoveling the patio or something. Willow was pretty happy in my jacket.

She’s got her squinty contented face on here:

Here’s a pretty sunset over Freeway Airport that I had to pull over to photograph. Which was tricky because snow was taking up a lot of the shoulder. Luckily there is a pull off at the airport entrance, which is like a dirt road.

And that’s it for now! The rest of Feb to be continued!
