Abbey Road on the River 2015

I never really got around to posting these, so here was AROTR 2015. It was an odd year. My Norwegian friends weren’t there, and one of the Dutch guys, who is in this amazing group that does a lot of 3 part harmony CSNY/Eagles type stuff, had issues with immigration. It sucked. I felt terribly for him, and everyone was sad to miss him, and he was sad, and his band had to scramble and they couldn’t do the beautiful harmonies which are their specialty.

Just a weird weekend. But it was still fun and I got to hang with my bestie Katie, so that was good.

This is Nube 9, they are from Argentina and are one of the few bands that have a female guitarist. She’s amazing and I totally have a girl crush on her.

Here they are playing with Jay Goeppner who does a lot of John Lennon stuff.

This is Lawrence Juber. He was in Wings. He won a Grammy for Rockestra Theme on my new fav Wings album Back to the Egg. No big.
IMG_6534

He’s only an incredible guitarist well-known for his amazing finger picking.

I was walking past the main stage at some point and there he was playing Rockestra Theme (backed by The Cryers), the song he won a Grammy for. Again, no big!

Since our Norwegian friends couldn’t be there, their “American Fan Club” took a pic with our sparkly Norway hats for them.

LSB and Sixty Four join forces:

How cute is this little girl?
IMG_6607

This is “The Orchestra” – they’re former members of ELO and they played ELO. No, no Jeff Lynne, but they sounded great!

Sweet Talking Woman

Turn to Stone

They even did a Beatles number and let their drummer sing. This is Don’t Pass Me By:

We took a lot of selfies.

Here’s Wingsbanned – one of my fav bands who do… Wings covers.

I love when they do Nineteen hundred eighty five:

The Submorons parade went by and we scored these awesome glasses, which everyone wore all night. This is Katie and I with Janne’s daughter.

Here we have members of Wingsbanned, LSB, and The Newbees represented. Misty, on the right, is one of the other few female guitarists and she’s great!

Hans from LSB:

This was at the late night Classicstone show – they did a whole set of Queen, which included hits and obscure songs and they are so great! They did one my favs, ’39 – Brian May’s song about time dilation and the twin paradox. Classicstone is from Columbia.

Here’s a clip of ’39:

Michael Barrett and Janne and others during the John Lennon tribute show. Michael is awesome – so nice and super talented.
IMG_6643

Here’s a clip of a cool version Michael did of Michael Jackson’s Billy Jean. He played Space Oddity for me, too, which was fun!

Here’s part of Blackbird:

Sjoerd and Hans from LSB. Minus Mars. :-( They still sounded great – but I know we all missed Mars.

IMG_6650

People were buying LSB’s tshirts and sending Mars selfies in them, so here was my shot for him.
IMG_6659

This guy stood and pumped his fist for most of the Newbees show. :-)
IMG_6719

Classicstone! Doing the Beatles this time. They had some cool arrangements.

It’s our last night.

With Michael:

I liked Classicstone’s version of I Will.

I also liked their cover of Free As a Bird. Not a song you often here at AROTR.

IMG_6724

Not a great vid, but these two guys totally cracked me up – they did an elaborate dance for pretty much all of Honey Pie. I love that song anyway but they made it even better.

The last night’s late night jam with Michael sitting in with Jukebox.

Studio Two (minus Beatle suits)

Katie and I also ended up at Grace’s very nice party – it was really fun to get to hang out with friends and meet some new people. Here’s Katie with one of the Classicstone guys.
