National Harbor

So, during my week off between Christmas and New Years (omg, it was so nice, but I really could have used another week!), I met Doug for lunch at the National Harbor, which is only about 25 min from my house. They recently-ish put in this big ferris wheel, which is sorta tacky but also can sorta look cool at sunset and at night and stuff.

Anyhoo, it’s an easy drive for Doug and not bad for me, so we met up there and tried out The Crabcake Cafe. It was a pleasant surprise. Good review on Yelp, and I was not disappointed. We tried two different kids of crabcakes, though their regular one was our favorite, and a cream of crab soup. The food was really really good – and I think these were some of the best crabcakes I’ve had.

The greenish one had avocado in it. Not a great pic, sorry. But rest assured, delicious!

This sculpture at the National Harbor is super odd. “Hey, it’s a guy being sucked into quicksand! Let’s play on his face!” It’s actually called The Awakening: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Awakening_%28sculpture%29

Since we’d never been up in it and since there wasn’t much of a line, we went on the ferris wheel! yay for being a tourist in our own city!

Here’s the view from the top – it’s not a super great view of DC, but you can see the National Cathedral, the Washington Monument, NRL and Alexandria:
