Florida, August Family Vacay

Now on to the family vacation in Florida!

We met most of the family at Dixie Crossroads in Titusville.

Corn balls!

They had the royal red shrimp in stock and they are always so amazing. It was no exception this time.

So my nephew, niece, and niece’s boyfriend all were playing Pokemon too. We were all sitting out at the pool and someone would occasionally check their phone to see if there was anything good. There rarely was since there wasn’t much near the ocean. All of a sudden my niece goes, “there’s a big blue thing!” and there was my first ever snorlax. Even if he was a tiny one. My nephews was pretty big, and my niece’s boyfriend got a ???, which meant higher in CP than he’d yet seen… and it ran. It was pretty crushing.

Norwoods has this new “stack style” fish topping and it is amazing. This is Snapper “Stack” style: blackened with a siracha aioli, wasabi cream, onion straws, served on a potato pancake and julienned veggies.

Sea turtle rescue one morning. We’d never seen a wild baby sea turtle here though there are nests here on the beach. We were out for an early morning walk and saw this tiny guy on his back. We thought he was dead. But we turned him over and he was alive. Since we didn’t know what else we could do but give him a chance to get out to sea, we tried to encourage him out. The waves kept washing him up but we got him past the breakers on the shore. We watched and he seemed to be swimming off. When we came back that way a little while later, we were going to make sure he hadn’t been washed up again. When we got near that spot, it was clear he had because there was a crowd of people around something. Fortunately the turtle patrol people were also there. They also tried to get him to go out but decided he was injured, perhaps by a bird. (One eye did look injured once it was pointed out.) So they put him in a bucket on top of a damp cloth and said they would take him to the turtle hospital. And I was able to get a phone number so I would have it in my phone in case we ever spot a baby in trouble again! So happy ending (well, the best outcome for now) for this little guy! For reference, this is the sea turtle rescue phone number: (386) 239-6484
