Disney Food & Wine, Day 1

We had plans to hit up Disney Food & Wine this fall for much needed long weekend away. We were able to get our awesome vet tech to med Willow and we arranged for her to be fed while we were gone – plus she was way more stable than the last time we did this. So off we went for the weekend.

Overall we had a great time – it was dampened a bit by waiting for a phone call that ultimately was bad news (not life threatening or anything), so I was pretty stressed the whole time we were there. That wasn’t ideal, but I tried to enjoy being there while we were.

We started off pretty good with spotting a snorlax on the sightings and tracking it down to the curbside in Orlando. I was pretty happy since he was a nice one – my first really nice one, actually! We were both able to get him. A nice start to vacation.

And then we were there!

We hit up Food & Wine first thing for a meal:

This was Farm Fresh. Chicken and Dumplings: Stewed Chicken with Mushrooms and Spinach –
Pickled Beet Salad with Herbed Goat Cheese, Minus 8 Vinaigrette and Toasted Walnuts (bottom) –
Loaded Mac ‘n’ Cheese with Nueske’s® Pepper Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Peppers and Green Onions (middle)

Hawaii – Spicy Tuna Poke with Seaweed Salad and Nori Rice and
Kalua Pork Slider with Sweet and Sour Dole® Pineapple Chutney and Spicy Mayonnaise

Patagonia. Beef Empanada – Grilled Beef Skewer with Chimichurri Sauce and Boniato Purée –
Roasted Verlasso Salmon with Quinoa Salad and Arugula Chimichurri

I keep forgetting to do the little Remy hunt for Food & Wine - you get a pin at the end! Next time for sure! We did find Remy in Epcot UK:

More food! Multi countries here! Mexico (bottom left): Taco de Camarón: Battered Shrimp served over a Flour Tortilla with Crispy Purple Cabbage and Chipotle Mayonnaise – Australia (right): Grilled Lamb Chop with Mint Pesto and Potato Crunchies –
Lamington: Yellow Cake Dipped in Chocolate and Shredded Coconut (not pictured though we ate it!) – Grilled Sweet and Spicy Bush Berry Shrimp with Pineapple, Pepper, Onion and Snap Peas - Ireland (top left): Warm Chocolate Pudding with Irish Cream Liqueur Custard

Vegetable cruise!

Hidden Mickey:

Our crazy car design for Test Track:

Craft Beers: Pimento Cheese Dip with Pretzel Crisps - Charcuterie Plate: Country Pâté, Cured Meats and Crostini - Piggy Wings: Fried Pork Wings with Korean BBQ Sauce and Sesame Seeds

The beer flight I got - the blueberry vanilla beer was amazing.

We did get Mexico in, but it was dark and we didn’t get good photos. Taco de Camarón: Battered Shrimp served over a Flour Tortilla with Crispy Purple Cabbage and Chipotle Mayonnaise – Barbacoa Enchilada: Corn Tortilla filled with Beef Barbacoa and covered with Oaxaca Mole.

We weren’t able to fast pass the new Frozen ride, but we stopped over there near park closing and the line wasn’t very long so we were able to go on the ride! If you don’t go on the FP line, you also get to go into Oaken’s Trading Post and he talks to you from the Sauna window, which is super cute!

And we also did China, but again too dark for photos:

Chicken Pot Stickers – Sichuan Spicy Chicken –
Black Pepper Shrimp with Garlic Noodles –
Beijing Roasted Duck in a Steamed Bun with Hoisin Sauce

And our step total for the day!
