What I Was Up to – January 2017

On to January – I’m only 7 months behind, I can still catch up, right?

Doug and I headed to National Harbor for dinner.

We met Janine and Ron for dinner – in DC at Zengo. I believe Diana and her husband joined us too. We didn’t manage a group photo, but we did get our twinsie Rey boots:

And I did get pictures of the food. Which is good because they closed not long after this to my horror.

Back at National Harbor – we really like the Italian place Fiorella’s – this mozzarella salad is awesome.

There’s also a really good candy store at NH.

Some snow and a sunset:

The JWST dress my friend Holly made for me (online). I wore it to a company holiday party:

Seriously, those make-up filters on snapchat are the best thing ever. I love this one. If only I really looked like this!
IMG_8819

Janine gave me her mandolin – now I need to learn mandolin chords!
IMG_8835

A nice day, so Willow got some (highly supervised) grass time.
IMG_8945

It’s her favorite thing in the world.

For Odd Night Out, we went to Graffiato in DC – normally one of my fav DC restaurants. They were having an off night – the service was super slow and the fryer was clearly too hot as our zeppelin were burnt on the outside and not cooked on the inside. But most of of what we ordered was delicious – and our next meal there was back to standard.

Maybe asparagus? With an egg and peach and onion? Don’t remember.

This cauliflower dish is one of my favs:

Gnocchi with pork ragu

A mushroom pasta:

The Jersey Shore pizza – the calamari was a little unevenly distributed, but I love this pizza so much.
IMG_8978

Another pasta dish – didn’t leave a big impression.

So at lunch several of us are very “Sheldon Cooper-esque” about our spots. I was out one day and Koji deliberately sat in my spot, so I swore revenge. I picked out a lovely Hello Kitty tiara (he hates Hello Kitty more than anything in the world) and had it sent to his house, gift-wrapped, from Amazon. The gift card said, “STAY OUT OF MY SPOT!!!” :D He brought it in, and fun was had.

That’s right, it’s facing you, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO???

And with evolving a Machoke, I was either really proud or really ashamed to have completed my Gen 1 poked, minus babies.

SUZZ2816

By now (July), I have completed Gen 2 (minus unown, because I don’t believe they really exist and regionals, though I do have a heracross). I do have all the babies, and both released legendaries (lug and articuno), and shadows of the Gen 1 regionals. So not too shabby.

I love the Nerdy Post subscription box! It’s not expensive, and the stuff is so cool.

Dave built a ship for our D&D game. Meet the Lusty Narwhal.

I don’t know if this will play but..

Willow inexplicably loves her carrier.

This is John getting his arm 3D scanned for Ashley’s sculpture for our JWST art exhibit. (Her piece turned out spectacular.)

My friend Gloria and I had a sewing day and her husband made donuts. So good.

Doug came and joined us for dinner after at Nai Nai – great noodle place.

Willow likes her cup of joe…

Seeing Denny Laine in concert in Annapolis – he played with Paul McCartney. They did the whole Band on the Run album here.
IMG_9343

And I finally met Donna, a local Abbey Road on the River person I’d never managed to meet. We have a mutual friend who is in one of the bands.

Pretty girl:

Not sure if this will play, but she was having some kind of intense dream!

And that was January! Lots of food!
