Disney Flower & Garden Day 3 (April 2017)

We started Day 3 with breakfast at the Cape May Cafe – we’d had breakfast there in the past and really liked it, but the food was awful this time. They had gotten rid of the crepe bar, and a lot of the food was cold, the bacon super greasy and congealed… it just was bad. And it was so expensive there. The characters were very nice, but we aren’t enough into the characters to have enjoyed spending so much for such a bad food experience. I tried to call and complain later, but it was impossible to get through the phone tree and I got sent in circles. Lesson learned.

We only had so many meals at #epcotflowerandgardenfestival so we started to have to be choosier. So we skipped the tres leches dessert. The Chile relleno was a standout. Chile Relleno de Picadillo: Battered Poblano Pepper filled with Ground Beef covered with Tomato Sauce and Garnished with Queso Fresco and Toasted Almonds –
Brocheta de Pollo con Salsa Morita: Grilled Chicken with Red and Green Bell Pepper served with Salsa Chile Morita and Garnished with Micro-Cilantro and Edible Flowers

We didn’t get to the conch salad (I decided it wasn’t pregnancy friendly enough), but the other items at the La Isla Fresca booth at #epcotflowerandgardenfestival were good! Jamaican-braised Beef with Pigeon Pea Rice and Micro Cilantro –

A combination – we had the pineapple soft serve earlier in the weekend. This is the Spicy Hot Dog with Pineapple Chutney and Plantain Chips from the Pineapple Promenade booth. The lower two are Field Greens with fresh Strawberries, Blue Cheese, Strawberry Vinaigrette and Spice Pecans –

We are often disappointed in Italy’s offerings and will skip them when we run out of time at #epcotflowerandgardenfestival We gave them another shot and it was not great. Antipasto was underwhelming and advertised ciabatta bread – this was like baguette. Meatballs were cold (took it back and got another slightly warmer). Dessert was good. But overall skippable. Sad. :-( Antipasto Misto: Cerignola Olives, Sweet Soppressata and Salami, Ovolini, Mozzarella, Sweet Roasted Peppers and Ciabatta Bread –
Meatball Parmigiana: Hand-made Beef and Veal Meatballs, Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Parmigiana and Fresh Basil –
Strawberry Tiramisu: Ladyfingers, Mascarpone Cream and Marinated Strawberries topped with Strawberry Sauce
