And here we are in November. At the beginning of the month, just 20 days away from my due date, we all went to Friday lunch at Hard Times Cafe. Then we got on the Beltway to head back to work. Only to get stuck on the on-ramp in traffic. For two hours. I did not give birth in my officemate’s car, which was a good thing.
Doug was able to fit in the Annapolis half before the baby came. Packet pickup was at the Naval Academy stadium.
Caitlin sent me some awesome hand-me-downs!
Don bought the Women of NASA lego set for us to do together. Joe, Alex, and I put it together.
I love the handle on this pumpkin.
Janine made sure the baby would be a fan of the Marine Corps.
Cat and husband both sacked out.
An Italian artist who has contributed stuff to our JWST art project actually sent me this painting! Isn’t it cool? And topically appropriate! He also sent some baby bibs as a gift.
The baby was born on November 23rd. I’ll do a baby post at some point, but it’s not going to overrun my blogs.
Here’s a few days after we were home! Willow decided the changing pad was a good fit for her.
Ok, you get a few baby pics at the end as a bonus. Elena Jasmin was born November 23, 15 minutes into Thanksgiving Day – after 3 days of unprogressive labor, by c-section. Which was awesome and I wish I had just scheduled one:
And my favorite pic from the hospital. When Elena would cry, she would flush and get all blotchy. One night, they asked if they could take her for her first bath. We said sure, and she showed up a while later, swaddled, totally silent (because swaddling triggers a reflext that stops them from crying), with a new hat, with blotchy skin, and anger in her eyes. oh my god. This picture just kills me. She was so angry and so quiet and so blotchy. And it was clear she’d been screaming recently.
Willow’s like – ok, but when does it go back?
And that was November!
