Disney, April 2018 – Sunday – Epcot

Sunday morning was the Star Wars Half. Betsy, who is an amazing artist made a bunch of signs, which I eagerly agreed to use, since I had none. I did not end up catching Betsy, unfortunately. But I did see Doug, and Betsy’s race signs went over super well because they are awesome. I wish I was that talented. My poster ability (and patience for it??) is like a sharpie and some scrawled words. She’s a real artist!!

And again, why we splurged on the Beach Club, to cheer for the runners, we only had to go out the front door. Pretty awesome.

Here comes Doug!

Elena and I went and hung out for a bit on the balcony to wait for him to finish.

Then it was time to dress up for the day – we had a breakfast reservation to get to! This little mod number was a gift from her namesake Jasmin and is super cute.

So we booked breakfast at Trattoria al Forno, for their Bon Voyage Adventure breakfast. Though neither of us is very into characters, we had really good food and a pleasant experience there last time. They have Ariel & Eric, and Flynn & Rapunzel (and we both love Tangled a lot). I think when we went last time, it was a newer breakfast and they had a thing where you could fill out what your dream was (per Tangled’s theme!) and the characters took their time and really chatted with you. And the food was a little bit more indulgent. This time, the characters felt more rushed and the food offerings were smaller (I mean, it was a lot of food last time, but we snacked on the bread/pastry basket for the next day or so, so it didn’t get wasted). So still better food-wise than the buffets, but not quite as shiny an experience as the first time. I have to say both Princes were really cute with Elena.

I think this was the Tangled Eggs:

I got the Two-eggs Poached Underwater again. I think I got this last time and it was really good.

And then it was time to head to Epcot again!

After we nibbled on our toes.

Eventually we were hungry again after that breakfast, so more Flower & Garden & Food!

I missed the candied strawberries at Lotus House this year! They had: Spicy Meatballs with Crispy Tofu, Fried Chicken Dumplings with Peanut Sauce, Vegetable Spring Rolls

This was Hanami/Japan. Frushi is always one of our faves. Frushi: Fresh Pineapple, Strawberry and Melon rolled with Coconut Rice, sprinkled with Toasted Coconut and Whipped Cream with Raspberry Sauce on the side, Ginger Beef Yaki Udon: Thin-sliced Beef, Onions and Noodles tossed on the grill with Soy and Ginger, Teriyaki Salmon with Furikake Seasoned Brown Rice

This chocolate macaron lollipop was pretty awesome. From France, of course.

Then we headed back to the hotel to take Elena to the sandy-bottomed pool. We didn’t bring phones so we didn’t have to worry about leaving them, so no pics after we left the room, but it was pretty wonderful. Elena sat in the shallows in my lap and splashed in the water and played with the sand (and didn’t eat it, which is pretty nice), and she loved it and we loved it and it was everything I wanted it to be. We even took swim lessons that spring so she wouldn’t be freaked out by the idea of a pool.

After swimming, we got dressed in an outfit Amber had bought Elena and headed back out!

We took turns on some rides, so Elena and took some selfies while waiting for Doug.

The Berry Buckle – our last taste of Disney Flower & Garden, since we didn’t do park hoppers this time, and wouldn’t be back to Epcot.

When we got back to our hotel, the Club room had more desserts out. So I got one of each of things, but man, that was a lot of food and I so wish we could have gotten Beach Club and complementary club level when we had fewer meal plans!

IMG_2872

Miles walked: 6.25 (not counting swimming!), 15,386 steps!

Then it was nighty-night time for Elena in her space shuttle PJs!
