What I Was Up to – August 2018

August!

We’ve gotten really good eggs from Hungry Harvest (hungryharvest.net) – this one box had almost every egg with a twin yolk.

I got Harry Potter themed macarons and they were awesome. There were four flavors that each reflected a different House color. So cool and tasty! https://www.ma-ka-rohn.com/

I got this Jaws themed set from Origami Owl. A friend sells it and I couldn’t resist.

I got new plates from Calamityware:

Dahlias in the garden:

I traded for one of these so yay, finally in the Dex.

Caitlin was in town with Lara, visiting family and we had dinner with them – really nice to catch up!

Super weird clouds after!

Happy cat:

A galaxy macaron from Ma-ka-rohn also.

I got Willow a new perch. She seems to like it!
IMG_8948

Also she kinda blends in with it.

So, Pokemon story. I had an EX-raid pass for a Mew Two – and after we beat him, I tried to use the AR mode to take a picture. Instead I got a gray screen. Sigh. I was afraid to quit out of it and lose the Mew Two – so I just threw poke balls blind… and ended up catching him. Too funny, considering I didn’t get the very first one I tried for, two days after Elena was born.

I commissioned a piece of artwork from an artist on Fivrr that a friend of mine used and I was super super thrilled with it.
IMG_9031

Eevee community day – a friend turned me on to the Giant/Walmart parking lot (a place I normally avoid like the plague) as a primo spot for spawns. Which turned out to be true – this was the best I ever did on shinier!

Fall is coming! (Of course while I am posting this, fall is on the way out the door)

Also, a Pikachu macaron, from the same place as the galaxy one:

Gloria and Mike organized a super cool photo shoot at the Portrait Gallery in DC (separate post on that coming up) and Doug took Elena to the Natural History museum while we did that.

Afterwards when we met up, we got Luke’s Lobster which we hadn’t had in ages and were super excited for!

We met up with Koji and Ed for German food at Old Stein Inn!

It took her a little while, but she warmed up with Koji and Ed:

Janine and Ron babysat for us so Doug and I could go see HAMILTON! At last, finally. It was really good. I’m impressed at the creativity and talent it took to write the show.

IMG_9629

Meanwhile at Janine and Ron’s Elena was experiencing the joys of Peanut the Pug and another small dog they were babysitting. She wanted the dog until the dog licked her a lot which she didn’t like, but then she’d chase him again.

IMG_9623

And she also explored Janine’s (discarded) text book.

I like her thoughtful look as she eats the piece she tore off the book.

Time for a bottle!

IMG_9621

They took her out for a walk and forgot to pack diapers – and she had a blow-out. But there’s a cute hipster baby store near them that helped them out with a diaper change pack and a new outfit! Win!
IMG_9634

She was starting to decide she didn’t like baby food anymore.
IMG_9643

The new outfit is super super cute too!

Then we went to England in late August – over Labor Day weekend. That will be separate posts too. I had to miss Pokemon Moltres Day, but a friend raided for me and at last I anti-climactically reached Level 40. He screencapped it for me.
IMG_2171

And caught me a shiny molters.
IMG_2172

And that was August minus the Portrait Gallery shoot and England!
