June Florida Vacay – last day, Disney!

After a big holiday break and a lot of intensive work at home in the evenings feverishly uploading pics to Flickr (and praying they don’t go away), it’s time to try to catch up with some blogs again! At this point, I am like 7 months behind. yay.

So last I posted, I was enjoying going through our lovely Florida family vacation. We packed up and left the condo for Orlando on Friday night, so we could have as much of a full day as possible at Disney, with an after-dinner flight home.

We ended up trying a new suites place that had a ginormous tub in the room that we didn’t get the chance to use.

We had a Starbucks breakfast the next morning. The fact that she is old enough to eat sandwiches is crazy. (And I’ve had like 7 months to get used to this now.)

On our way into Magic Kingdom, we happened to see Mary Poppins with no line, so we went to say hello! Elena was… shy.

But then she noticed the parrot handle on her parasol and decided that was interesting.

And then she saw a squirrel!

Hooray!

So all was well.

Mary Poppins asked us what we were riding next, and I said the carousel, which was perfectly true, but also kind of funny, given they ride carousel horses in the movie. Mary Poppins approved.

Carousel!

This was Elena’s first time on a carousel, and she loved it. Unfortunately I got an important phone call from our vet partway through the ride, which I had to take, so I missed documenting much of this important milestone. (Remember we were dealing with a sick Willow on this trip.). So we waited in a much longer line to ride a second time.

She really liked it.

A day is not much time to get on rides. I think we parent swapped for Space Mountain, and we did do Small World. And had corn dog nuggets at Casey’s. We had a dinner reservation at Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Before that, we went souvenir shopping for our petsitters. Elena picked out some cups.

She downed a ton of soup at Boma (she likes soup), and we had a nice meal, which was slightly less rushed because our flight was (shockingly) delayed.

We changed Elena into PJs at the airport so we could just put her down when we went home. And she enjoyed running around with the other kids on our delayed flight.

And that was pretty much that! She slept on the flight I think, or watched her iPad and it was pretty uneventful! We were glad to get home and see Willow, who Kevin had picked up from the emergency vet that day. (Thank goodness for our wonderful pet sitters!)
