New Smyrna Beach – June 2019 – Day 2

Back to the beach! Or first full day, Sunday, had us getting dressed and heading to Mon Delice, the French bakery, for breakfast sandwiches (sausage, egg, and cheese on brioche) and coffee. A New Smyrna Beach tradition!

Well, first stop was to run the beach stuff down to one of the tables by the pool.

I can’t believe my baby is old enough to eat sandwiches. She pretty much polished hers off!

Then we hit the grocery store. This was an impulse buy because it had her name on it.

Then I ran into not one but both of Doug’s brothers in the store. They didn’t know anyone else in the family was there. Tom was picking out cereal for their dad.

Finally, pool time! I got this little life vest with water wings for Elena for safety, but she hated it and was happier to float around with me or Doug.

While we were floating there, it looked like Elena had a bug on her, but it wasn’t – it was a tiny tiny frog!

Doug and I wanted to get brunch at one of our fav places, but guess who fell fast asleep on the short drive there thanks to a morning in the pool?

Finally she woke up and we walked around Flagler Ave and ultimately got some ice cream. I bought Elena a little turtle:

A fine afternoon it was!

Dinner was at Norwoods, so I broke out our matching outfits from Trashy Diva. :D

The stack style snapper is so consistently good there. And Elena loves edamame!

I don’t know if movies will embed or if you have to click, but here is my dizzy girl turning girls in the kitchen. I love those chubby thighs.

Elena hadn’t walked in the soft sand by herself yet, and her reaction to it was amazing!

At first she didn’t know what to make of it. But then she decided it was pretty cool.

Tide pool!

I’m pretty sure she thought she was Moana.

IMG_4586

She was fearless of the ocean. Which was good, but also just a little scary.

At this point, I am pretty sure she was living her best life. This is one of my fav pics of her!

And that was Sunday. Overall, I found this year much easier than last. She was old enough that she wasn’t a danger to herself in the condo. Other than having to keep the toilet seats down. Last year was a little tough because she was just start to crawl and there wasn’t any really good place to let her play or get down, and she mostly had to be carried. I felt overall like everything was a little more relaxed. On the other hand, she had discovered Stranger Danger and while last year she was happy to be passed around, this year she would cry if anyone other than Doug or tried to hold her in the pool. She had such a good time on the beach though, that it was a delight to see it all through her eyes.
