November Disney Trip Day 1

In November, right before Elena turned 2, we took a trip to Disney – just a long weekend. We wanted to catch the end of Food & Wine, and had debated picking closer to Halloween, but we thought we hadn’t seen the Christmas decorations in a while…. Then last minute I decided to crazily add on tickets to the Very Merry Christmas Party the night we were arriving, Friday night. After getting up at like 5 am for our flight. I was afraid it might be too much, or the party might be super crowded (one of my friends had a bad experience), but we took a chance.

This was also our last flight on the companion pass and with a lap baby. So we all three went for the price of one!

As it turned out, the weekend we picked was super cold. The weather was in the 70s the week before and the week after, but we got 50s and overcast. :-/. But we had a magical time nonetheless and generated so many good memories!

Elena played with the little girl right in front of us.

We couldn’t get the whole stay at Shades of Green, so we splurged on a nice room at the Dolphin for our first night.

I love this pic of Elena. This is shortly after she dropped her burp cloth (her blankie) – we knew we had lost it somewhere and then we found it hours later on the walk back to our room.

The resorts were still just getting ready for Christmas, but there were some decorations out!

Since we were walking distance to Epcot, we had planned Friday as our big Epcot day!

We went back to the room for some balcony hangout time:

After resting up, we headed out for the big Christmas party! I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. It was NOT jam packed, and the lines for cookies and such were not long, and some of them didn’t have lines. And basically, it just felt really like really special time for our little family, which I am so grateful for.

Elena was so thrilled.

Next we went on the Carousel!

I tried to get a pic of her in her Rapunzel dress near the rest rooms, but it was kind of too dark.

Next up, Peter Pan!

We got to see the newly renovated line, which was cool.

We killed time waiting for the parade by buying a giant Christmas tree full of popcorn. Elena loves that popcorn holder so much! It’s really cute and it lights up! Also Elena loves popcorn. She loved the parade and it was so fun to see her reaction to it.

We found a snack place giving out free warm pretzels shaped like snowmen, so that was fun!

I’d never been on the Jingle Cruise, so I jumped at the chance. I’m not sure Elena enjoyed it all that much.

The decorations were well done!

We found a spot to watch the fireworks!

I had put the noise canceling headset on Elena when the fireworks started… and she went right to sleep and missed the whole thing.

We exited to snow on Main Street!

We’d been afraid we’d be rained out that night, but it was the nicest weather we had the whole weekend – and the warmest. :-/

And then it was back to the hotel.
