Washington International Horse Show Kids Day aka the best day of Elena’s life

You guys, I’m super behind on blogging because apparently it’s a lot of work to both work full time and have a toddler at home. Not the catch-up time I imagined.

But at least we are not doing anything so I won’t have new blog posts to write after Feb 2020. Sigh.

Anyway, I did want to find time to do this one, because this was one of the highlights of 2019. You know, when we could go places and do things without fear of dying of a horrible virus. Good times.

Gloria alerted me to the Washington International Horse Show kids day, which was free, and it turned out to be amazing! The directions on how it all worked were confusing, but we figured it out. Once we went to the right place, we were given tickets that would give us a free pony ride, a mini cupcake, and tickets for us to actually get into the day horse show events in the Verizon Center (or whatever it’s called now).

The might have been the happiest day of of Elena’s life thus far (although the beach was a strong contender). She was definitely living her best life and loved on all the horses she could and only cried when she had to come off the pony after the ride.

Her interest was definitely piqued as we approached.

Thanks to having an elderly cat that she is used to at home, she was very gentle with all the horses.

Moving on to some big horses:

There was a very sweet donkey named Blossom who was wearing a tiara. Elena was in love!

Tiny cupcake. I wisely, oh so wisely, picked vanilla. If it were for me, it would always be chocolate. But this is not my first rodeo, and for a toddler, never chocolate. Never.

She *loved* watching the horses jump!

All was well until people sat in front of us with a big bag of popcorn. She reached for the popcorn. Nope, you cannot have their popcorn. Hysterics ensued, so we picked up and went out to the lobby. We couldn’t blame her (she loves popcorn) and popcorn sounded pretty good, so we went and got some, and found different seats, and all was well. A wonderful time was had by all.

Afterwards we went to get lunch at Luke’s Lobster, one of our fav places in DC. (Actually, their crab rolls are my fav.)
