Nov 2 Sunset

November 2, just after I found out that an astronaut co-worker has stage 4 pancreatic cander, we saw this beautiful golden sunset. It was bittersweet. (ETA: He wrote this powerful op-ed: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/17/opinion/sunday/cancer-and-climate-change.html?smid=tw-share) Alex worshipping the fire orb: Group selfie with the fire orb: Somehow we got Don in a picture – AND he’s not rolling his eyes!

Washington International Horse Show

I’m super behind on posting things. I’ve been so busy at work I hardly have room to breathe lately and exhausted at night. And busy on the weekends. Anyhoo – back in October we went to the Washington International Horse Show in DC with Mike and Gloria. I really enjoyed it – it was really fun and I also really … Continue Reading →

Pumpkin Patch again

We went back to the pumpkin patch a second time to actually get pumpkins (rather than to look for butterflies with friends) (cause that is a thing we do apparently):

Corn Maze

This year we decided to do the corn maze at night, just to be different. We got there before dark so we could get food and enjoy a bit of the weather. It was super pretty! We got a group selfie: Craig took this one: Ah, there we go! With my new Norwegian lua (hat): We had these two small … Continue Reading →

Pumpkin Patch

We went to the Pumpkin Patch after we tromped around Glendening Wildlife Preserve with friends. Sheep!

Glendening Nature Preserve ^5

We had yet another beautiful fall day in early October, while our friend Conley was in town, so our friend Tim asked if we wanted to go for a hike at Glendening. We did! Conley and Doug had just done the Army 10 Miler in DC, but walking is good for the legs post race. We tried not to go … Continue Reading →

Baltimore Regency Dinner

Last month, we joined a bunch of other friends for an evening in Baltimore. A subset of our group toured Fort McHenry and went on one of the tall ships. But we just had so much going on in October and I was exhausted. So we decided just to go into the city for dinner. Our friend Conley was in … Continue Reading →

Udvar-Hazy

While Angela was in town, Doug and I met her, her family, and Stephanie and Mat out at Udvar-Hazy. It was a great excused to hang out with them and finally get back to Udvar-Hazy, since it’d been ages – and we’d not seen Discovery there yet. (Though we did see it fly over DC!) Here are some pictures! The … Continue Reading →

What I’ve Been Up to – September, part 2

So – mid-September. My friend Koji asked me if I’d give a tour to friends of his who were in town while he was out of town. I’d heard that there were going to be two astronauts giving a talk that day as well, and Koji’s friends said they’d be interested. So I arranged to badge them in in time … Continue Reading →

What I’ve Been Up to – September, part 1

So I’m still kinda in a bad mood from last week, so here’s some hopefully fun pictures from September. I’m still on my organizing kick – here’s when I went through our board games. I got rid of some old ones and put the ones we play in the cabinet here and the ones I wanted to keep less in … Continue Reading →

Riversdale Masked Ball

A bunch of us went to Riverdale House’s masked ball last weekend. The best part is the was able to join us since the timing with her DC vacation worked out! The ball was smaller than the 12th Night one and had light snacks rather than a full meal. It was really fun! That house is so pretty! Here are … Continue Reading →

Brookside Gardens

We had a beautiful mid-September day and I just couldn’t stand to be inside anymore! So I left work a little early and headed over to Brookside Gardens, somewhere I’d been wanting to get back to. It’s not super far from work, but I knew I’d be facing Beltway rush hour traffic to get home. Still worth it! I didn’t … Continue Reading →
