Some pics from the 18th century Fort Fred market fair. Some of these came from Gloria (https://www.etsy.com/shop/inthelongrun), Jenni and Isabella. I lost track of some of the credits, sorry! Jenni’s pretty bag that she made: The fort: Matching stockings – and shoes! The fabric on those boxes looks familiar… Taylor and friend: Gloria’s photo – it was very windy! Inside … Continue Reading →

Finally found some time to do a little catching up, so here is some of what I’ve been up to in May! Pretty flowers: I was able to get to the book release party for one of Silence in the Library Publishing’s new authors, Rori Shay. Her book, Elected is really, really good. http://www.silenceinthelibrarypublishing.com/product/elected-rori-shay/ And they had these cute cupcakes … Continue Reading →

Our nephew Gary just recently finished his course on becoming a certified flight instructor in Florida and has been working at Allegheny County airport in Pittsburgh, teaching flying. When we were there for Easter, I wanted him to take us up, because we’d never flown with him before. He got permission from his boss to take a plane up after … Continue Reading →

I had come across this tutorial for coloring Easter eggs using flowers and onion skins, so we decided to try it out! http://ulicam.blogspot.com/2012/04/easter-tutorial-how-to-color-eggs-with.html We were in Pittsburgh for Easter, and we didn’t have a lot of flower options, but we found forsythia, hyacinth, and onions. Though really we could have done with more onions, but we used what we had. … Continue Reading →

A while ago (after a tortured ticket-buying experience, wherein advertised pre-sale codes were withheld, except for a secret fan club few people seemed to know about, but wof hich I am now a member) I bought Neil Finn tickets for the Lincoln Theater in DC. Oddly, they were general admission. This is odd because the Lincoln Theater has seats, unlike … Continue Reading →

I’m very slowly catching up! Here are photos from the Braddock Day Ball at Gadsbys Tavern. The date was 1755. For whatever reason, this ball didn’t sell out and it was a relatively small crowd. (Unlike the 1790s Birthnight Ball which was packed.) But that meant more room for dancing! I rewore my Princess Caroline sacque. I really should have … Continue Reading →

I’m not sure exactly where they came from, but we have these two Godzillas that hang out in the little room attached to the small “lounge” where we have lunch and tea. They get posed by various people (including myself), and it’s always amusing to see what the Godzillas are up to. None of these were posed by me.

We had a fancy Regency dinner in Dallas at Pappadeauxs, as an early birthday celebration for Jen. It was SO fun. The food was great, we had a private room (though the restaurant had booked a party in that room not long after us, the service was slow – which was not an issue for us, only for the party … Continue Reading →

Getting back to my Dallas trip in March. On Saturday we visited a log cabin village in regency outfits. We were a little early time-period-wise, but it was a fun place to take photos – and actually really interesting to visit. Some of the log cabins (which were moved here from elsewhere) had a lot of history to them. And … Continue Reading →

I am super belated posting about this, but oh well. I was lucky enough to get the chance to visit my DFW friends for a costume weekend! Lesa picked me up, we headed to Ginger’s house to change, and then met up with everyone at Thistle Hill, a 1904 Georgian Revival house in Fort Worth, TX. We did a variety … Continue Reading →
