When we got home from the pumpkin patch, another butterfly landed on the dahlias and I got a bunch of pictures.

Pumpkin patch

A few weeks ago Doug and I went to the pumpkin patch near us. They have beautiful sunflowers as well as a field of pumpkins, and it was a beautiful day. Here are some photos. This was a lucky shot – I just happened to catch a butterfly going by!

Disney Halloween 2012 – Sunday & Monday

Sunday was another hot one, but it was our last chance for the Food & Wine festival, so we persevered, and decided to see how much we could stuff ourselves before we got heat stroke. We started going the other way around the world, to the part we hadn’t gotten to and finished with countries we’d skipped. First up was … Continue Reading →

Disney Halloween 2012 – Saturday

Saturday was race day. Or rather night. The race wasn’t until 10 pm. Unfortunately, it was another hot one. We planned to spend the day checking out the Food & Wine festival, then some rest, perhaps pool time, and then the race. We’ll see how well that worked out. First up, a few pics of the pool, which is one … Continue Reading →

Disney Halloween 2012 – Friday

Friday morning, Doug and I headed over to the Magic Kingdom to meet up with my friend Meredith and her family. Disney at Halloween is so cool. I adored how Main Street looked, all dressed up for fall!

Disney Halloween 2012 – Thursday

Recently we went to Disney for a long weekend, primarily for the Tower of Terror Ten Miler race, but also for Halloween and the Epcot Food & Wine festival. So here’s Thursday: Me and Mickey at the Orlando airport! and me and Goofy! We splurged on a room at the Yacht Club and we had a nice water view. In … Continue Reading →

First Aid Kit

So a while ago I stumbled across this video. I fell in love with the song (and I love the video too!) and I started listening to the group. They’re Swedish sisters and are called “First Aid Kit”. They played a show in DC at the Synagogue at 6th and I, which is a magical venue. The acoustics are awesome. … Continue Reading →

What I’ve been up to… (cats, snakes, flowers, a butterfly, work stuff, and more!)

I got one shot of this yellow butterfly on one of the dahlias. I haven’t seen this type of butterfly in the garden before. I love this pic of Willow. She made herself right at home on a Macy’s box with Doug’s birthday present from his parents in it.

Warsaw – the loot!

I forgot to post about all the cool stuff I picked up in Poland. I’ll confess that I do love to buy souvenirs – something to say I went to that country or place. Sometimes postcards suffice. But since Poland is known for amber, I wanted something amber. And also there were nesting dolls everywhere, and I have a small … Continue Reading →

A few Star Trek buys

Mark (our redshirt) posted these great pics of the Star Trek group from DragonCon. I thought they were really fun! No, the other left!   Not the redshirt! I also wanted to note that I bought these insignia for Doug’s NuTrek costume – I like them better than the ones I bought on ebay a few years ago. Science: Star … Continue Reading →

DragonCon – Sunday!

Sunday I actually ended up waking up fairly early (I know, it’s weird). The Sheraton pool during the day. It’s really pretty! And since I was up, I thought I would throw on some clothes and try to make the 10am Doctor Who panel, which was with GWho/Torchwood propmaster Nicholas John Robatto. It was in my hotel and I was … Continue Reading →

DragonCon – Saturday!

So, for the first time since its inception, I actually went to the parade. The first year I went to DragonCon was the first time they did it. It was very hot and early and I never did it again. Mostly because we stay up late and I don’t like getting up early and missing sleep. I’m always sorry to … Continue Reading →
