Wine Country Wild Berry Cobbler

We bought another (non Food & Wine) cookbook at Disney and Doug made this berry cobbler (with drop biscuit top) and it was AMAZING. The biscuits were a little sweet and just perfect. So good. More Disney Food and Wine Recipes

I did a blog post with a bunch of these in one place. Here is our next batch. I’ve included links to online recipes where available. The others are in Disney Food & Wine cookbooks. Beef Mrouzia with Couscous, Morocco Pavilion, Restaurant Marrakesh Warm Chocolate Lava Cake with Baileys Ganache from Ireland. We had to make a few adjustments. We … Continue Reading →

Slow Cooker Barbacoa-Style Beef Tacos

Barboacoa-style beef tacos – we made this recipe for dinner tonight (ok, this was written ages ago) and it was omg incredible. It’s meant for a slow-cooker, though I’m sure you can adapt it. The marinade was super easy and we threw it together this morning and then the house smelt great all day. Here’s the video, I’ll put their … Continue Reading →

Halloween Treats

Here some things we tried for Halloween this year. The first was brown butter rice crispies. These are made just like regular ones, only you brown the butter before you put the marshmallows in. Brown butter is made by heating and stirring butter longer than usual until it caramelizes and turns brown. You do want to keep stirring so it … Continue Reading →

One-Pot Butternut Squash Alfredo

I spotted this on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/buzzfeedtasty/videos/1642417172677592/ We tried and it was really really good! Below is the recipe, they provided, but I made the following modifications: We used twice the amount of onions (mostly because we had it and didn’t want to waste it and onions are delicious). We only used 1 tsp of brown sugar because I prefer savory … Continue Reading →

Okonomiyaki Pancakes

We got a subscription box from Try the World featuring Japan right around the time I picked out the Okonomiyaki pandake recipe out from our Food & Wine cookbook. So it felt like a sign that we should try it! The Try the World box came with a kit like this: http://www.amazon.com/Okonomiyaki-kit-Japanese-pizza-4-3/dp/B000FI0Z02/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1444006021&sr=8-2&keywords=okonomiyaki+kit It had nearly everything we needed. The Food … Continue Reading →

Disney Food and Wine recipes

Doug and  I have become big fans of Disney’s Food & Wine festival. They sell cookbooks with some of the recipes – and we’ve bought all of them – so we decided to try to get through as many of the recipes as we could. Many of them are out of our comfort zones, so we figured it’d be good. … Continue Reading →

Macarons

I blame Katherine, really – but how was I supposed to resist day after day of gorgeous macaron posts? So I decided to give them a try. Here are my notes: 1) Attempt #1 at making chocolate macarons, this recipe: http://www.chocoparis.com/chocolate-macarons/ It was easy to measure everything out but the easiest thing to do it with is a little kitchen … Continue Reading →
