Disney Food & Wine, Day 4

Our last day we headed to Animal Kingdom in the morning. Some nice views of the Tree of Life: Find the heron: Okapi – the nicest view we’ve had of one: A little snack! One more view of the Tree of Life: We also, of course, went on Everest twice. Great ride. Then it was over to Epcot to finish … Continue Reading →

Disney Food & Wine, Day 3

Day three at Disney found us at Magic Kingdom in the morning. Did I mention I really like Halloween? The hall of presidents had a new replica first lady gown. This is a circa 1810 silk velvet replica of a Dolley Madison gown. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a gown like this is silk velvet? Interesting! A friend of … Continue Reading →

Disney Food & Wine, Day 2

On to Day 2 of our trip. We got up, put on Halloween shirts, got a Starbucks breakfast, and headed out for a morning at Hollywood Studios. We had lunch/early dinner at Epcot, then hit Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party for the evening. I love the decor at Tower of Terror! I’m so glad the one in Florida isn’t … Continue Reading →

Disney Food & Wine, Day 1

We had plans to hit up Disney Food & Wine this fall for much needed long weekend away. We were able to get our awesome vet tech to med Willow and we arranged for her to be fed while we were gone – plus she was way more stable than the last time we did this. So off we went … Continue Reading →

A Disney evening

This was not our best visit to Disney. We were in Florida for the annual family vacation and thought we’d fly in, head to Disney for the afternoon/evening before heading out to the beach. This was supposed to be a bit of a treat since we’d had a rough start to our year. Doug bought the tickets online, linked what … Continue Reading →

Disney Weekend, part 3

Our last morning! Post race, we headed back into the resort. Doug and I last minute got a reservation for breakfast at the Cape May cafe! Yay Mickey waffles! You could eat all the tiny crepes you wanted! After breakfast, we walked around the Yacht Club for a while and then managed to meet up with everyone else who was … Continue Reading →

Disney Weekend, part 2

Day 2 at Disney – we hit Animal Kingdom first thing in the morning and got right on Everest. Doug was even brave enough to snap a picture and not lose his phone! Breakfast of champions: Our view: I think this is Conley’s pic from over at Hollywood Studios – Captain Phasma! Then back to Epcot for lunch. Spicy Hot … Continue Reading →

Disney Weekend, part 1

Doug and I took our first vacation since the previous July, and after a bunch of rough personal stuff (which included a very sick cat that precluded any time out of town), we finally got away for a weekend. Many, many thanks to my parents for staying with Willow for most of the weekend. Doug was running the Star Wars … Continue Reading →

Disney Food and Wine recipes

Doug and  I have become big fans of Disney’s Food & Wine festival. They sell cookbooks with some of the recipes – and we’ve bought all of them – so we decided to try to get through as many of the recipes as we could. Many of them are out of our comfort zones, so we figured it’d be good. … Continue Reading →

Disney Food & Wine (Sunday)

We were up late again at the fireworks, so we were slow again in the morning. We hit Epcot for an early lunch! No, this wasn’t lunch. I saw him on line for food though! More grapefruit beer! Australia: Garlic Shrimp with Roasted Tomatoes, Lemon Myrtle and Rapini (good!); Grilled Lamp Chop with Mint Pesto and Potato Crunchies (good!); Pavlova … Continue Reading →

Disney Food & Wine (Saturday)

We were up late at the Mickey Halloween party (we closed it down pretty much) so we took a it a bit slow Saturday morning. We had an early lunch at Epcot. We started with Italy: Ravioli alla caprese: cheese ravioli, tomato sauce, mozzarella, parmesan and basil (good!) ; Filetto di pollo, con funghi al marsala: chicken tenderloin, cremini mushrooms, … Continue Reading →

Disney Food & Wine! (Friday night)

Friday night we headed to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party! I love seeing the Magic Kingdom all lit up for Halloween! No Headless Horseman in the parade, sadly, because of the weather. But I love the zombie dancers! And the gravediggers: The figurehead on Hook’s ship is pretty! Haunted Mansion!
