Pumpkin Patch

Pics from our local pumpkin patch from back in October.

Glendening Nature Preserve

Sadly we only got to Glendening Nature Preserve once this fall – for some reason fall seems to always be busy, and we just didn’t get over there are often as we did last year. But when we did get there, we had a ton of butterflies, so we definitely made up for it!

Brookside Gardens

A beautiful afternoon, and we were in the area, so Doug and I spent an hour or two at Brookside Gardens over near Silver Spring. Spot the butterfly: They have a memorial for the victims of the DC sniper. These rainbow colored echinacea are so beautiful.

Glendening Butterfly Garden in June

Continuing the backlog of blog posts… Back in June we checked out the Glendening Butterfly garden to see how it progressing – normally we go a bunch in the fall. It was not bad though and we did catch a few butterflies.

Pumpkin Patch

We went to the Pumpkin Patch after we tromped around Glendening Wildlife Preserve with friends. Sheep!

Glendening Nature Preserve Redux

Doug and I went back to Glendending Nature Preserve to get in a nice long hike, which we did, and this time we saw a couple different butterflies at the butterfly garden – a Nokomis Fritillary, and a black Swallowtail. At the start of our hike, we saw this guy across the path: Also this: Also two really impressive spider … Continue Reading →

There were two monarchs that chased each other around … Continue Reading →

Phipps Conservatory at Christmas

Actually we were there over Thanksgiving, but they were all decorated for Christmas. Here’s a corpse flower – yep, it has a phase of life where it looks like a tree! It’s no Jurassic Park like last year, but the volcano is still there! My niece Talia and I: A “snowman” wedding! Here’s the ring bearer: The bride: The groom … Continue Reading →

Pumpkin Patch

Here’s some photos from our annual trip the pumpkin patch. Some nice butterflies this time! Love these blue pumpkins! Squashes! Pumpkin pie recipe!

Brookside Gardens

So it was a nice weekend, a few weekends ago, and Doug and I were looking for something outdoors to do. And I stumbled on Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, Maryland. It’s free and it was quite lovely. It’s not quite as big as Longwood or Winterthur, but it has lots of different gardens and the dahlias and roses were gorgeous! … Continue Reading →

So ages ago – was it May? (I am so behind) we had a group outing to see the Downton Abbey exhibit at Winterthur in Delaware. Everyone dressed in teens or 20s and we saw the exhibit, had a picnic, and then spent a bunch of time tromping around the gorgeous grounds in smaller groups. It was so much fun, … Continue Reading →
