Since I’d been unable to go on the variety of other Williamsburg trips (IVF can really limit your travel), Gloria proposed we go this summer for a weekend. So we did in July! I wasn’t super pregnant so I was ambulatory if a little slow, and we had a really nice time. Thanks, Gloria, for doing the organizing! We first … Continue Reading →

Indiana Jones and the Adventure of Archaeology

The Nat Geo Museum in DC has a great exhibit on now about Indiana Jones and archaeology. It’s on until Jan 3rd. It’s really awesome – costumes and props from the movies, real artifacts, a really good interactive audio/video guide. It’s a big exhibit – took us 3 hours. They had a lot of costumes, including Marion’s bar fight outfit, … Continue Reading →

Winterthur extent clothes and things!

Winterthur also had some lovely extent clothes and other embroidered pieces on display. This was a set of 18th century pockets which were *huge*. My hand is in one of the pics for scale. These are pieces that were once the border of an embroidered petticoat – I want one! This bag had slits on the side, just like a … Continue Reading →

Beth, on … Continue Reading →

Ida McKinley dress

They had a new dress up at the Magic Kingdom Hall of Presidents (new to me anyway) – Ida McKinley’s gorgeous black lace pigeon-front dress.

So ages ago – was it May? (I am so behind) we had a group outing to see the Downton Abbey exhibit at Winterthur in Delaware. Everyone dressed in teens or 20s and we saw the exhibit, had a picnic, and then spent a bunch of time tromping around the gorgeous grounds in smaller groups. It was so much fun, … Continue Reading →
